The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is attempting to repeat the Tripura-model in the upcoming West Bengal polls, Trinamool Congress chief and Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee stated on Monday.
I feel dismal that many leaders from congress left to join BJP to fortify it and bring them to power in Tripura. BJP wishes to execute a similar formula here, says West Bengal CM. Those leaders that are aware that they will not receive any ticket are leaving TMC. Moreover, we are not stressed over them as they were non-performers.
BJP believes that by adding some gaddars (deceivers) from the Trinamool Congress (TMC) they will win the Bengal Assembly elections, Mamata added. The individuals who joined the BJP ought to be ashamed of themselves. She also compared the BJP to a washing machine where the corrupt leaders take shelter and emerge clean of corruption.
Around six TMC MLAs, who were ousted from the party had joined the BJP before the Tripura polls in 2018. The six were with the Congress before joining the TMC in June 2016. The TMC lost the Tripura Assembly polls, however, the BJP won 36 out of the 60 seats.
“Those people who raise fingers at Bengal should take a ganger at what’s going on in BJP-ruled states like Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, and Madhya Pradesh, etc. The residents of Tripura used to raise slogans that the CPI(M) had ruined the state”, she added.
Trinamool will consistently work for improvement and peace and BJP wants to instigate riots, they want to cut jobs and we want to create more employment.
Later she urged people belonging to the SC and ST to give support to TMC in the coming elections, as BJP has taken many seats from you in north Bengal, but have they given you anything?
Banerjee stated that the BJP has destroyed ‘Sonar Bharat’ (golden India), are currently talking of making ‘Sonar Bangla’. Rejecting BJP’s claims of being an option in place of Trinamool, Banerjee said that no other party can take Trinamool Congress’s place in Bengal.
