Lucknow Imposes Section 144 Over Rail Roko Farmer Silent Protests

Lucknow -Organized under the bigger wing of farmers’ bodies, the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) has organized a six-hour-long ‘rail roko’ protest today, in UP, Punjab and Haryana. In response, the UP government has already imposed Section 144, which prevents the assembly of four or more people.

In the latest update, a railway official has informed that four sections of the Ferozepur division have been blocked by farmer-protesters. The Ferozepur-Fazilka section in Ferozepur city and the Ferozepur-Ludhiana section at Ajitwal in Moga stand affected, the official said.

Those in violation of Section 144, or in an attempt to do so in order to “disrupt normalcy will be booked under the National Security Act (NSA),” the police also said. The whole peaceful protest could be seen in video grabs where farmers are thronging railway lines in different parts of the country.
