Leaders Unite Against BJP: Unity at Ramlila Grounds - “Witch Hunt”
The INDIA bloc, comprising various opposition parties, recently staged a massive rally at Delhi’s historic Ramlila ground, showcasing unity and solidarity against what they perceive as the BJP-led Central government’s authoritarian tactics. The rally served as a platform for the opposition to voice their concerns and condemn the alleged “witch hunt” against opposition leaders by the ruling government.
Top leaders from the INDIA bloc accused the Narendra Modi-led government of misusing central agencies to target opposition parties, dissenters, and rights defenders. They demanded the immediate release of two arrested opposition Chief Ministers, Arvind Kejriwal of Delhi and Hemant Soren of Jharkhand, highlighting what they described as a pattern of vendetta politics by the BJP.
The rally saw the presence of several prominent leaders from various opposition parties, including Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and leaders from NCP, Shiv Sena, SP, RJD, and TMC, among others. Their presence underscored a united front against the BJP and its alleged misuse of power.
The rally was emotional as Sunita Kejriwal, wife of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, and Kalpana Soren, wife of Jharkhand’s former CM Hemant Soren, joined the stage. Their presence highlighted the personal toll of the government’s actions and added urgency to the opposition’s battle cry against what they perceived as injustice.

The leaders of the INDIA bloc put forth several demands, including the release of the arrested Chief Ministers, a level playing field in the upcoming Lok Sabha election, and a Supreme Court-monitored probe into the BJP’s alleged financial wrongdoings. They accused the BJP of damaging democratic institutions and engaging in corrupt practices.
The rally served as a rallying cry for democracy, with leaders emphasising the need to vote the BJP out of power in the upcoming election to “save democracy and the Constitution.” The opposition leaders displayed a strong resolve to challenge the BJP’s alleged authoritarianism and to uphold democratic values.
