The much-awaited Tokyo games are around the corner and the Indian contingent is all set to give its best shot at the Olympics this year. Like every Olympic year, this time too, India has its own theme song for the mega sporting event.
The Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Kiren Rijiju launched the theme song on Wednesday on a stage where dignitaries like the president of Indian Olympic Association Narinder Batra as well as the secretary-general Rajeev Mehta were present. The official theme song has been sung by famous Indian singer Mohit Chauhan.
The Sports Authority of India made the official announcement saying that with this song the Indian contingent shows preparedness just ahead of 30 days to the start of the games. The singer himself tweeted saying that it is a matter of pride for him that a song composed and sung by him has become the official theme song of India.
The event may witness over 100 athletes from India this time at the Tokyo Games which is going to be held as per the decided schedule despite the lingering danger of Coronavirus. The games were postponed from last year to this year in the wake of the covid-19 pandemic but the senior Olympic committee officials feel that it is considerably safe to conduct the games now.
Mohit Chauhan sang the same song earlier this month during the launch of the official Team India kit for the summer games and yesterday, in front of the dignitaries, the song was made the official theme song.
Things with respect to the preparation may not be as solid as last year when it comes to the Indian athletes but senior sports officials confirm that there is a strong contingent in making. One of the strongest Nadal hopes for the Indian team comes from the Shooting team that has few of the best talents of the word.
Another string medal contender for the Tokyo games is Neeraj Chopra, star javelin thrower of he nation, who has been gaining enough and more experience practicing overseas. Shuttlers are also hopeful at getting a podium finish and the likes of PV Sindhu, Sai Parneeth and smashing doubles specialists Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty are training in India itself.
