Kashmir Valley To Get Its Own Investigative Agency With CID Top Cop As Director

Kashmir Valley -A separate security wing comes as an end-of-the-year gift to Kashmir after a four-day visit by Amit Shah showed its urgent need. Jammu & Kashmir will not get its own new State Investigation Agency (SIA) which will act as its nodal agency to coordinate with the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) in New Delhi.

Home Minister Amit Shah was visiting the valley when he expressed the desire to the top security brass that no space should be given to a separatism approach in Kashmir and has asked J&K Police to lead efforts for a fresh focused approach towards countering terrorists and their entire network while brushing up their human intelligence on the ground.

As announced by the Jammu & Kashmir government’s Home Department, the formation of the State Investigation Agency (SIA) will have the CID Chief of J&K as its head in the capacity of Director. The agency would be responsible of handling all high-profile terrorism-related cases.

With the introduction of a special agency, the J&K police will get more teeth, and prevent itself from being projected as a weak and compromised lot, as stated by the Home Minister himself.

The SIA will have CID, CIK, and CIJ as notified police stations for the purposes of registering and investigating of cases that fall under the domain of the news agency. Currently, the CID Chief Rashmi Ranjan Swain has been seen to do a fabulous job of controlling and tracking terror activities in the valley. She has been applauded for her silent but forceful tackling of the Over Ground Workers (OGWs) as well as government officials engaged in terror activities.

The induction of some new faces cannot be ruled out. This will come with a special 25 percent incentive on their basic pay for the risk involved in being a part of the SIA. Further, the SIA will have CID, CIK, and CIJ as notified police stations for the purposes of registering and investigating of cases that fall under the domain of the new agency.
