On Monday, Karnataka Congress targeted PM Narendra Modi by calling him (angootha-chhaap) or illiterate, igniting a war of words ahead of the two by-polls in the state.

The Karnataka Congress wrote in Kannada on Twitter, “Congress constructed schools, yet Modi never utilized them. Congress even set up programs for grown-ups to attain education; Modi didn’t learn there as well. Individuals who wish to beg for a living despite its being banned are now driving citizens to beggary. However, because of “#angoothachhaap Modi, the nation is suffering.”

In response, the BJP’s Karnataka representative, Malavika Avinash, said, “only the Congress party could go as low as this level and appended that the remark didn’t deserve a reaction.

Karnataka Congress’ representative, Lavanya Ballal, stated that the tweet’s tone was ‘appalling’ and needed an enquiry. She further added that she saw no real reason to withdraw the tweet or apologize for it.

The story of calling names and counterattacks continue as both the parties don’t lose an opportunity to beeline each other.

Congress alleged that petroleum and diesel would have been made accessible for ₹66 and ₹55 if we were in power; the party’s official Twitter expressed, “Costs of essential items have gone up due to the authority’s tax burden. The BJP has plans to loot citizens to support industrialists. The nation is suffering because illiterate Modi doesn’t understand peoples’ concerns,” The India Today reported.

The Karnataka Congress proposed that Prime Minister Modi change his name to Mounendra Modi as he does not speak on ground realities. All we see is silence on Chinese hostility, fuel price rise, farmers killing, Kashmir issue, or Adani’s port drug seizure, and no words in unemployment.”

Counterattacking the Congress, the BJP stated, “However there were good schools, a 50-year-old senior leader didn’t consider studying in India. However, there was provision of an adult education program, Pappu (Rahul Gandhi) didn’t get mentally mature. He is meandering like a poor person [dreaming] that he will one day become the Prime Minister since his forefathers were one.”
