Jagan Mohan Reddy’s YSRC wraps up civic polls with a landslide victory

On 14 March 2021, Jagan Mohan Reddy’s YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) won with a landslide victory in the civic body polls by gaining 74 from 75 municipalities and the latest trends hint that they might win in the total number of corporations.
The polls were held following two years of YSRCP administration and the ruling party asserts all credit goes to the welfare schemes of Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy regardless of the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic. The ruling party trusts that the metropolitan community has additionally supported its policies.
The local body elections were marked as an important test for the YSRC, which tried to maintain its hold in the state and a chance for the TDP to recover its lost playing field.
The YSRC’s success of 34 seats comprises Pulivendula, CM Jagan Mohan Reddy’s hometown constituency, Piduguralla, Punganuru, and Macherla districts where the candidates had effectively won ‘unopposed’ before the elections on Wednesday.
