Is Rahul Gandhi’s Europe Trip Led Congress Losing Its Leaders?

Rahul Gandhi’s left for his Paris trip to Europe just ahead of the G20 Summit. Rahul Gandhi, a prominent Congress leader, embarked on a European tour while world leaders were gathering in Delhi for the G20 Summit. This timing has raised questions about his priorities.

During his Europe tour, Rahul Gandhi met with Christophe Jaffrelot, an author and columnist who has, in the past, made several controversial and defamatory statements towards India.

Jaffrelot has expressed opinions critical of India and has even equated certain Indian legislation with controversial international issues.

Rahul Gandhi’s meeting with him has drawn attention and raised concerns, considering Jaffrelot’s history of making fake and controversial statements against India.

Rahul Gandhi’s approach distracted him as well as his senior party leaders. Consequently two Congress leaders, Jyoti Mirdha and Sawai Singh Chaudhary, have decided to switch sides and join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

This shift has dealt a blow to the Congress party, particularly in Rajasthan, where they held considerable influence.

Jyoti Mirdha, in particular, comes from a renowned political family, and her departure is significant, as it will significantly impact the upcoming state Assembly elections.

Critics argue that Rahul Gandhi’s decision to leave the country just ahead of the G20 meeting could be seen as a form of protest or an attempt to divert attention from the important gathering of world leaders.

Some view this move as childish or immature, as it may be seen as avoiding engagement with global issues when he could have used the opportunity to represent India’s interests and concerns on the international stage.

The departures of senior Congress leaders like Jyoti Mirdha and Sawai Singh Chaudhary to join other political parties, particularly the BJP, indicate a significant challenge for the Congress party.

These leaders’ decisions to switch parties may reflect growing disillusionment within the Congress ranks.

Such distractions and internal divisions can weaken a political party’s cohesion and effectiveness in addressing the needs and concerns of the people.

G20 is one of the most important meetings in the world. The whole country is feeling proud as this is the first time when India is hosting such a major international event.

But Rahul Gandhi’s European tour during the G20 Summit, and his meeting with Christophe Jaffrelot, have sparked debates and raised questions about the Congress party’s strategies and priorities.
