On Thursday, the Zonal Director of NCB dismissed all the claims of him or the crime branch focussing on Bollywood celebrities. “I would like you to take a look at the people arrested. I would not name any individual, out of 27, hardly two or three people are known people,” said Wankhede.
While talking to one of the leading media houses, the senior official said that there is no truth to the allegations. He stated that there are in total 27 arrests that were made in connection to the case from the Mumbai cruise drug bust, but out of them there are only two or three people who are known faces.
Wankhede on the contrary alleged that it is a campaign against him by people as he has carried out a probe against a relative of an honorable minister. It was Wankhede only who revealed that Maharashtra Minister and NCP leader Nawab Malik’s son-in-law Sameer Khan had involvement in selling and purchasing drugs.
He has reportedly transported 194 kg marijuana and six CBD sprays in the course of investigating itself. The official revealed how the investigation that he is leading has taken a toll on his personal life. “For the past 10-15 days my dead mother has been attacked, my father and sister have been abused,” he further added.
The latest development in the case suggests the involvement of Ananya Panday as well. The NCB is looking into the chats of Aryan Khan, who is already under police custody, and Ananya Panday, who also has been called for investigation and questioning to the NCB office.
On Thursday, the NCB conducted raids at the residence of Ananya Panday in Mumbai’s Bandra area where they found her involved in the matter related to transportation of drugs. The officials recovered a laptop and other electronic devices from her house and after her arrest, there are many other celebrities who are under NCB scanner. The young actor was questioned for two hours for questioning and now again, she has been summoned for questioning on Friday. Following her appearance, various media reports began to accuse her of using or selling drugs after which NCB clarified that just because she is being questioned does not mean she is one of the accused in the matter.
