Covid19 in India

India reported 95,735 new coronavirus cases, verging close to crossing the one lakh-mark in the number of daily cases. Up until now, no nation has crossed or even reached this mark. India has seen in the course of recent weeks, a consistent spike in the number of Covid-19 cases reported in a single day.

Meanwhile, the Health Minister, Dr. Harsh Vardhan expressed that the daily surge in new coronavirus cases in India is due to vigorous testing and the lenient attitude of the people. He also pressed on investing in wellness and building a strong medical healthcare system with specific focus on rural districts.

On Thursday, the Union Home Minister Amit Shah stated that India is facing an unprecedented challenge in the form of coronavirus and is placing up a well-organized plan to battle against the virus under the leadership of PM Modi. He likewise urged citizens to take care and adhere to necessary measures until a vaccine is found.

India has crossed Brazil’s total number of Covid cases, and now it’s second-highest in the world as the cases continue to surge. However, India’s recovery rate has arrived at almost 77.77 percent, while the fatality rate is down to 1, according to The Lancet report.

The Government of India is attempting to minimize the economic crisis brought by the aftermaths of the pandemic, nationwide lockdowns, and simultaneously battling the virus with an expanded number of testing, contact tracing, and treatment.

On Wednesday, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd. announced the news of Remdesivir under a brand name ‘Redyx’, implied for the treatment of serious coronavirus cases in India. Redyx will be sold at Rs 5,400 per 100 mg vial as per The Deccan Herald reports.

On Monday, the World Health Organization (WHO) chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus expressed that the world needs to get ready for the next pandemic, as he urged nations to invest more in health care systems. This won’t be the last pandemic, and History shows us that epidemics and pandemics are a reality of life.
