IPL auction 2022: ‘Not as expected’ say people who watched the event live

It will not be an exaggeration to say that the Indian Premier League mega auctions 2022 was totally unexpected but served a lot of disappointment. Loyalties were surely compromised but for a big bet like the IPL, nothing can get too much. Can it?

Some of the most shocking twists of events brought younger, relatively unknown faces to take big bets. The Original teams tried to keep it safe in the beginning but lost their chance with a google beautifully served by teams of Gujarat and Lucknow.

Some of the players who were bought by selectors for prices higher than needed were Harshal Patel, Rahul Tripathi, Shahrukh Khan, Nicholas Pooran among some other names. Mostly because of being uncapped, it was not expected for them to be sold at such high prices.

Nevertheless, among the uncapped players, it was Avesh Khan who was the most expensive. He was picked by Lucknow Supergiants for Rs 10 crore. All-rounders too were favorites during the event. Names like Deepak Chahar and Shardul Thakur, fast bowlers Lockie Ferguson and Prasidh Krishna were easy choices for many of the teams.

But still, it was the explosive batsman Ishan Kishan who was the most expensive bet at the event. He was picked by Mumbai Indians for Rs 15.25 crore. Chahar too was a huge name as he went with his usual space Chennai Super Kings for Rs 14 crore.

Other expensive players on the table were Ferguson and Krishna who were picked for Rs 10 crore each by Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals respectively. Some of the decisions seemed questionable not because of the players’ ability because of their lack of game experience. For instance, Sunrisers Hyderabad went for Nicholas Pooran by picking him up for Rs 10.45 crore.
