India’s First Indigenous Aircraft Carrier Sails For Maiden Sea Trial
This is the first time that the IAC, Indigenous Aircraft Carrier, the largest ever warship is built by India. It is going to sea to prove that it can deliver what it has been designed for. Trials involving landing and take off by MiG 29K fighters is expected to take time. Rigorous testing for propulsion and navigation is underway.
This aircraft will mark one of the most important milestones before it enters into service with the Indian Navy next year. To be named the INS Vikrant, IAC is supposed to undergo a line of sea trails in the coming months to validate the functioning of all systems. After being tested and approved, it will be handed over to the Navy for acceptance trials by early next year.
A Navy official mentioned that this is a proud and historic day for India as now the nation is enlisted with those countries that own state-of-the-art aircraft carriers. The construction of Vikrant began back in 2006 but faced a lot of challenges regarding its building material and design in the early years of inception.

However, now that it is finally ready, it will be commissioned into the Indian force in 2022. The advanced war machine is expected to carry MiG-29K fighters and a combination of helicopters such as Ka-31 for air attacks, MH-60R for underwater warfare, and HAL Dhruv for generic duty, including search and rescue.
The ship will also be equipped with the same ski-jump configuration as the INS Vikramaditya, which will launch fighter aircraft during the war. In many ways, this ship is far more advanced and stronger than the Russian-built Vikramaditya ship. The Vikrant is supported by ultra-strong engines, powerful ranging radars, and hidden war equipment, along with more electronic features.
India Navy chief Admiral Karambir Singh mentioned that if India wants to become a $5 trillion economy, then India needs to have powerful war weapons. As India’s neighbor and strategic rival, China owns two aircraft carriers and is soon to launch its third. Also, it is believed that China is expected to build five aircraft carriers by 2030.
