Indian Hockey Team Now Fight For Bronze, After Clashing With China
The Indian hockey team lost to China in the semifinals of the Asian Games 2023. Despite the loss, the Indian women’s hockey team performed exceptionally well.
India vs. China hockey match in the Asian Games 2023 was the semifinal, and both teams were doing great in the tournament.
So, India’s women’s hockey team was on fire! They hadn’t lost a single game so far. They started with a huge 13-0 win against Singapore and followed it up with a 6-0 victory over Malaysia.
They had a tough 1-1 draw with Korea but came back strong with a massive 13-0 win against Hong Kong China to top their group.
China was also doing well, with a stunning 20-0 win over Indonesia and an 11-0 victory against Kazakhstan. They had a little stumble with a 0-2 loss to Japan but bounced back with a 12-0 win against Thailand.
Now, in this semi final clash, the stakes were high because the winner was not only going to the final but also guaranteed at least a silver medal.
The head-to-head record between India and China was pretty close. India had won 11 out of 22 matches, while China had won 9, and 2 ended in a draw.
The Chinese hockey team was strong in this match. They scored four goals against India. In the first quarter, it was a goalless tie, but then China took the lead before half-time and quickly got another goal in the third quarter.

India tried their best in the third and fourth quarters, with lots of attacks and penalty corner chances, but they couldn’t equalize.
In the end, China scored two more goals in the final minutes, securing their spot in the final for the sixth time in Asian Games. So, India will now be fighting for the bronze medal.
It’s a bit disappointing for us, but let’s not forget that India’s women’s hockey team did amazingly well in the tournament.
They reached the semifinals, and that’s a big achievement. They’ve made our country proud, and we can’t wait to see them play for the bronze medal.
