India To Surpass US In AI Developers By 2027, Says Microsoft CEO

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has spoken to a large group of developers in Bengaluru. He shared an exciting vision: computers understanding humans, a big change from how we usually learn to use computers. 

Nadella believes we’re close to achieving this, thanks to advancements in AI and natural language processing.

For 70 years, the goal has been to make computers that get us, instead of us trying to understand them. With AI’s progress, Nadella thinks we’re almost there. 

He talked about how AI is becoming more common, helping to improve lives and society. Unlike before, when we just turned data into digital form, AI can now spot patterns and predict things, changing how we use computers.

Nadella emphasized how important new technology platforms are for India’s economic growth. He even suggested that AI could contribute to 10% of India’s GDP growth. 

He praised India’s growing number of developers, predicting that by 2027, India will have more AI developers than the US. He admired India’s quick adoption of new platforms and its leading role in moving towards AI.

The Microsoft CEO highlighted several areas where Indian organizations can benefit from AI, like improving work experiences, changing how customers are engaged, making business processes smoother, and encouraging innovation. 

Microsoft aims to help with these changes by providing various AI tools and technologies.

Focusing on the fair use of AI, Nadella talked about Microsoft’s plan to train two million people in India in AI skills by 2025 through the ADVANT(I)GE India initiative. 

This program aims to work with governments, prioritize diversity, and make sure AI’s advantages reach everyone, leading to more balanced economic growth.

The event also showcased how Indian languages are being integrated into coding platforms, showing Microsoft’s commitment to making AI development more accessible and innovative. 

Puneet Chandok, Microsoft India and South Asia’s president echoed the company’s dedication to enhancing AI capabilities in organizations and encouraging people to use AI for positive changes.
