The focus point of the G20 Summit was the Rome Declaration of 1984. Presenting India’s best foot forward, Modi was focused on ensuring a messaging where India should get a seat on the table in global economic recovery and supply chain diversification. He also spoke about India’s readiness to supply five billion Covid-19 vaccines by the end of 2022.
The running point at the G20 Summit was climate change and how to remain focused on Covid-19 recovery for the larger good of humanity. The G20 leaders have agreed that the World Health Organisation would be strengthened to fast-track the process for emergency use authorization for Covid-19 vaccines. In response, Modi reassured that India was ready to contribute to this initiative, provide its homegrown brand, Bharat Biotech developed Covaxin could get clearance to be enlisted under the Emergency Use Listings (EUL), something that has been pending for a long time.
Modi has made great strides in creating universal points of conversation with world leaders, on the sidelines of the summit concluded recently. He interacted with US President Joe Biden, French President Emmanuel Macron, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson, and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.He also held ‘fruitful’ discussions with Singapore’s PM Lee Hsien Loong. The two leaders ‘reviewed the full range of the friendly ties between India and Singapore.’
On his way to Glasgow, Mr. Modi has a great opportunity to present India’s achievements, as he joins more than 120 Heads of Government and Heads of State at the World Leaders’ Summit (WLS) of the 26th Conference of Parties (COP26) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) at the Scottish Event Campus (SEC) – a designated UN zone for the global summit.
During his three-day U.K. visit, Mr. Modi is listed to address the COP26 summit with a national statement about India’s climate action plan.
