India Creates A World Record With 21 Lakh Diyas & 80 Lakh Flowers
India created a World Record on the auspicious day of Dev Deepawali by lighting 21 lakh diyas (earthen lamps) & decorating Varanasi ghats with 80 lakh flowers.
Dev Deepawali is a holiday that is usually joyfully observed in Uttar Pradesh. On the banks of the rivers Ganges and Kashi, innumerable earthen lights are lit and float in the water on this day. On Kartik Purnima, 15 days after Diwali, Dev Deepawali is observed.
Tripurasur is said to have caused difficulties for both the gods in heaven and the people on earth.
The gods then flocked to Lord Shiva to ask for assistance. On the day of Kartik Purnima, Shiva complied with the request and killed Tripurasura.
To commemorate the event and honor Lord Shiva, all of the gods gathered in Kashi and lit a lamp. Dev Deepawali has been observed ever since in Varanasi.
Numerous worshippers travel to Varanasi on this auspicious day to offer prayers and take a bath in the Ganga. The holy event is held to remember Lord Shiva’s triumph over the demon ruler Tripurasur.
Another name for Dev Deepawali is Tripurotsav. According to legend, Lord Shiva slew Tripurasura on this day after hearing the gods’ petitions.
A tradition includes not only lighting the lamp but also praying to and dedicating Lord Shiva. A person achieves success in knowledge and financial rewards by doing this.
Dev Deepawali is a holiday that is usually joyfully observed in Uttar Pradesh. In addition to the Shiva temple, other temples light diyas at the intersection and under the peepal and tulsi trees.
The Ganga Aarti conducted at the ghats was a main draw for observers.
For the Dev Deepawali celebrations, thousands of people, including visitors from many countries, congregated at Varanasi’s well-known ghats starting early in the morning.
At the ghats, thousands of clay lamps were lit, and throughout the day, multicolored lights plus boats constituted the main draw.
Thousands of people arrived there to celebrate the festival, and to keep them entertained, prominent ghats like Assi and Dashashwamedh organized a laser display and different cultural events.
