Delhi -The farmers’ protest is going to be organized now into a peaceful tractor rally that is going to be the highlight of the Winter parliament session scheduled to be held from November 29 till December 23, 2021.

The 2020–2021 Indian farmers’ protest has been widely covered worldwide and has become the largest ongoing protest against three farm laws passed by the Parliament of India in September 2020. This protest has taken many twists and turns and people living in NCR have faced humongous issues due to this protest. During a meeting on Tuesday, the nine-member team of Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) has decided on a massive move of 500 farmers driving towards the Parliament in a peaceful manner.

SKM is the umbrella body of over 40 farmers’ unions from Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. They also plan to observe one-year of movement all over the country. “The purpose is to ‘increase the pressure’ on the Central government to concede the demands for which farmers across the country have launched a historic struggle,” says farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal. Further, he added “Farmers from the Ghazipur and Tikri borders will leave for Parliament House on their tractors on November 29 and will hold a sit-down protest wherever they are stopped. If the government doesn’t allow us to enter Delhi, we will go to jail.”

SKM also plans to bring in masses of farmers from the state is Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Rajasthan at all borders of Delhi to show their strength on this occasion and organize public meetings to discuss this matter. Later, they intend to pay homage to 650 martyrs of this struggle too. This will be followed by Mahapanchayats in all state capitals. Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait, who has become the face of the farmers’ agitation, said the protest against the three farm laws will also be intensified in the Purvanchal region, which comprises parts of eastern Uttar Pradesh and western Bihar. He said a “Kisan Mahapanchayat” will be held in Lucknow on November 22, four days ahead of the anti-farm law protest at the Delhi borders completing one year.
