Fans disappointed after not Chadwick Boseman but Hopkins lifts the trophy for best actor
For his marvelous work in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, fans of the late actor Chadwick Boseman were anticipating a big win for him in the recently concluded Oscars. But to their disappointment, the best actor trophy was won by Anthony Hopkins for his work in ‘the father’.
The actor died of cancer last year and left his legacy in the name of some amazing movies in which he has acted. One of the more popular ones till date remains the Black Panther, for which Chadwick received a lot of praise. Boseman was not only popular for his depiction of the fictional character but also his attitude off the screen.
All of the factors led fans to believe that this year, for the 93rd Academy Awards, the late actor might win best actor for his performance in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, but to their dismay, vetran actor Hopkins took home the black trophy.

In no time, the tweets started hinting towards a possible racist angle. For an actor of color, it has always been extremely difficult to stand strong in art, music or any other creative fields as they are often neglected despite giving stellar performances.
One of the fans reminds movie experts that how can they not give the trophy to Cadwick when in any other award show, he has won in this very field. “Listen, no matter how you feel about Chadwick Boseman’s performance – he won every other Best Actor award this season. Academy often awards the body of work because “it’s time”, why change that now? Huge snub which Boseman doesn’t deserve to be part of his legacy,” read the tweet.
Many even went onto the extent of calling the actor ‘one of the greatest actors ever.’ A tweet read that whether he has won the Oscar or not, he will forever be the greatest movie actor ever.
Boseman started his movie career in 2003 with ‘Third watch’, which was a popular TV series.
