External Affairs Minister, S.Jaishankar voiced for the minorities of Bangladesh in Lok Sabha
On November 29, 2024, the fourth day of Parliament’s winter session, the External Affairs Minister, S.Jaishankar stated and expressed his condemnation of the violence against minorities (Hindus) and their worship places in Bangladesh. He also criticised the interim government of Muhammad Yunus. He underscored the political ruckus that broke out in Bangladesh since August 2024 which led the former PM Sheikh Hasina to flee from her own country and the recent arrest of a ISKCON monk Chinmoy Krishna Das.
“Government has taken a serious note of these incidents and shared its concerns with the government of Bangladesh. The primary responsibility for the protection of life and liberty of all citizens”, said EAM S.Jaishankar.
“Reports of attacks on temples and puja mandaps also came to light during the recent Durga puja festival in Bangladesh, Government had expressed its serious concerns regarding the attack on a puja mandap in Tantibazar, Dhaka and theft at the Jeshoreshwari Kali temple at Satkhira during Durga Puja 2024.” added the statement.
A few days ago, the Ministry of External Affairs had released a statement of censure after the sudden arrest of the Hindu monk and the stratified violence against Hindus and all the other communities in Bangladesh by the unidentified mobs who are behind these violences.
