Expo 2020 Dubai set to bolster India’s ties with UAE, asserts Piyush Goyal

Dubai – One of the most coveted and anticipated events hosted by the United Arab Emirates, Dubai Exo 2020 was postponed last year due to pandemics. But now the mega event is set to start on Friday, October 1, 2021, and end on March 31, 2022. Among many participants is also India with fifteen states and nine central ministries participating in the global mega-event that is set to attract millions of guests from around the world.

Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal said on Wednesday that the mega event will further bolster India-UAE relations, mainly in the exports sector. Goyal said, “Dubai Expo 2020 is an important event. The UAE has given the most important place to India as Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Crown Prince share a good relation. We will have a high-level task force meeting with their senior ministers. It will further strengthen the India-UAE relation and exports.”

Dubai Expo 2020 would be the second-largest global event after Tokyo Olympics 2020 since pandemic struck the world last year. Though the event was postponed last year, organizers have kept the name as Expo 2020 for branding and marketing purposes.

Indian Pavilion at Dubai Expo 2020

Indian Pavilion is a four-story structure that is divided into two sections. 11 key topics on which the zones of India’s pavilion are based are Climate and Biodiversity, Space, Urban and Rural Development, Tolerance and Inclusivity, Golden Jubilee, Knowledge and Learning, Travel and Connectivity, Global Goals, Health and Wellness, Food Agriculture and Livelihoods, and Water.

India’s pavilion is the largest among those of the other 192 participating countries at Expo signifying the emergence of the New India. Dubai Expo 2020 is also coinciding with ongoing Amrut Mahotsav, celebrations 75 years of Indian Independence. The Expo will provide opportunities to display and showcase the vibrant culture and growth of India along with the hopeful opportunities the country offers. Gujarat will be the first Indian state to showcase its product in India Pavilion. It will be followed by Karnataka, Ladakh, Telangana, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Jammu, and Kashmir, Goa, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Haryana. The states will showcase their culture, food, and business opportunities at the Dubai Expo 2020.

The Ministries participating in Expo include Ministry of AYUSH, Ministry of Tourism, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Department of Space, Ministry of Renewable Energy, Department of Pharmaceuticals and Ministry of Textiles. Expo will also feature many Indian conglomerates like Tata Group, Reliance, Adani, Vedanta, Hinduja Group, and L&T, as well as UAE-based giants including Lulu Group, KEF Holdings, Aster, Malabar Gold, and IFFCO. Many other firms that will participate are  Hindustan Unilever Limited, PepsiCo, HSBC, ITC, Facebook, EaseMyTrip, Oyo, Standard Chartered Bank, Trident Group, Baidyanath, Apollo Hospital, Sun International, MIKO, Daawat Rice, Bank of Baroda, Patanjali, Dabur, BLS International, Petrochem, Nikai, Al Dobowi, Shycocan, NPCI, and Jagran Lake.
