ED Raids Target Ranchi Over Jal Jeevan Mission Corruption Case
Since the Durga puja ends in Ranchi a new high-profile case is started, ED initiated a raid at residence of businessman Vijay Aggarwal, which is located on InderPuri Main Road in Ranchi on Monday morning. This raid is part of a broader investigation into alleged money laundering linked to the implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission in Jharkhand.
According to The Times of India , ED initiated a raid on more than 20 locations across the state capital of Jharkhand -Ranchi as part of this probe. It is linked to various government officials including IAS Manish Ranjan and a staff member of Drinking Water and Sanitation Minister Mithilesh Kumar Thakur who were also searched.
A local news source Hindustan reported that the ED is investigating possible irregularities in the Jal Jeevan Mission, a central government scheme that aims to provide safe and adequate drinking water through household tap connections. This probe comes just ahead of the expected announcement of Jharkhand’s Assembly elections.
ETV Bharat also mentioned that searches were conducted at multiple locations in Ranchi which involves businessmen, contractors, and government officials in raids. These raids are part of corruption and irregularities in the project.
