National Congress Party leader Nawab Malik has been arrested by the Enforcement Directorate after the investigation agency found his connection in a money laundering case against Dawood Ibrahim.
On Wednesday, the ED questioned the Maharashtra minister on the matter post which the minister said that despite whatever happens, he will be fighting and exposing the truth soon. He was first taken to JJ hospital for a medical check up ahead of his appearance in the court.
Malik’s lawyer has asked the court to spare time for him to speak to the minister. The senior NCP leader was picked from his residence at 7 am today and taken directly for interrogation in the matter.
The central body is currently investigating the Kurla property deal of Malik where other big names are also involved. The connection found was in a Rs 80 lakh transaction by the NCP minister to Dawood Ibrahim’s sister, Haseen Parker. With this money, they were to acquire a 3-acre land in Kurla.
The money was distributed in two mediums–cheque and cash. Rs 25 lakh was paid through cheque while the remaining amount was paid through cash. As per ED’s report. The land that Malik bought initially belonged to Munira Plumber and was later on acquired by Hassena Parkar.
But this transaction of land happened through forgery. After the latest revision in documents, all the power to sell the land was given to Parker’s driver and bodyguard Salim Patel. Post the arrest, many NCP workers were assembled at an outdoor ED office at Ballard Pier in South Mumbai and were found shouting slogans demanding the authorities to release their leader.
