Durand Cup 2022: Asia’s Oldest Football Tournament Schedule, Timings & Venues
The Durand Cup, the oldest football competition in Asia, will begin its 131st season on August 16, 2022. It will be held in Imphal, Guwahati, Kolkata & Naihati.
Ten games will be held at the IG Athletic Stadium in Guwahati between August 17 and September 4.
At the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata, FC Goa and Mohammedan SC will square off in the opening game at 7 o’clock.
The match between Emami East Bengal vs ATK Mohun Bagan, which was originally slated to open the competition, was rescheduled as a result of a proposal from the former club.
The oldest football competition in Asia is the Durand Cup, which was first played in 1888.

The competition has the name of its originator, Henry Mortimer Durand, who led British India as foreign secretary from 1884 until 1894.
Initially, it was a football competition between several military branches and regiments (of British India & native India).
Teams In Durand Cup 2022
The 131st edition of the Durand Cup will include a total of 20 teams, according to Sports Star.
This year’s Durand Cup will feature participation from all 11 Indian Super League clubs, five I-League teams, and four military sides.
Venues For Durand Cup 2022
The Durand Cup will take place in West Bengal, Assam, and Manipur in 2022, switching from a single location to a multi-city format for the first time.
Salt Lake Stadium (Kolkata), Naihati Stadium (West Bengal), Kishore Bharati Stadium (Kolkata), Khuman Lampak Stadium (Imphal, Manipur), and IG Athletic Stadium (Guwahati, Assam) are the designated stadiums for the competition.
