Every year in the Indian Premier League we witness one or two memorable incidents which leaves us thinking about it for a very long time. This year too, one such incident that happened that kept fans a little confused.
Yesterday night when Kings Xl Punjab came against the Sunrisers Hyderabad, a moment involving Afghanistan cricketer, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, gained more limelight than Hyderabad sweeping off the game. Six overs before the conclusion of the game, the dismissal of the young Afghan cricketer left people perplexed
While his dismissal was called out by the umpire, the 19-year-old all rounder walked back to the pavilion only to have taken a DRS again which kept fans wondering if it was possible to take two DRS calls in a single ball. Fast bowler from Hyderabad bowled a full delivery. Mujeeb tried to avoid the delivery and the ball went straight into the wicket keeper’s hands. Jonny Bairstow made a huge appeal but was turned down by the umpire.
Hyderabad skipper, David Warner, did not feel confident enough to call for DRS but surprisingly the on-field umpire decided to go upstairs and review the decision. There was a confusion regarding the delivery being a bump ball which, according to the replay, was denied.
The umpire could not have access to ultra edge because it was an umpire review. Based on this review, Mujeeb was given out. Now while he was moving towards the pavilion, someone from the dressing room hinted at DRS and the cricketer turned back to appeal again for the DRS.
The TV umpire once again came into the picture and now he had access to the ultra edge. But to the disappointment of the young cricketer, he was once again finally called out. The decision was the same as the on-field umpire with the only difference that Punjab had to lose a review this time.
