DMK Leader Senthil Balaji Hospitalized After ED Arrest, Know The Case
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has arrested Tamil Nadu Electricity Minister and DMK leader V Senthil Balaji in an alleged money laundering case. Following his arrest, he underwent a coronary angiogram today.
The hospital in Chennai has reported that Senthil Balaji, who is currently under their care, has been diagnosed with a triple vessel disease.
The hospital has stated that a CABG-bypass surgery is necessary and should be performed as soon as possible.
In a dramatic turn of events, the DMK leader was seen shedding tears while being escorted to a hospital for a routine medical examination by the ED on Wednesday morning.
Supporters of Senthil Balaji gathered outside an ambulance and shouted slogans against the probe agency while he was seen weeping inside.
On Tuesday, Balaji’s home was raided by the ED before he was taken away for questioning. This morning, the minister was arrested following several hours of questioning.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has arrested V Senthil Balaji, a prominent leader of the DMK party.
The arrest was made on Wednesday morning in connection with a money laundering case related to a cash-for-jobs scam that allegedly took place during the period he served as a minister in Jayalalithaa’s cabinet.
Former AIADMK minister V Senthil Balaji, who switched to the DMK in 2018, has been accused of involvement in a jobs scam that occurred during his tenure as Tamil Nadu Transport Minister between 2011 and 2015 under the previous AIADMK administration.
Last month, the Supreme Court gave permission to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to investigate Senthil Balaji and other individuals in relation to a case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

The Supreme Court has overturned a previous decision by the Madras High Court regarding the dismissal of the ED’s summons to Balaji and others. This order comes after careful consideration by the Supreme Court.
The Minister of Electricity, Excise and Prohibition, V Senthil Balaji, has been arrested under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). On Tuesday, extensive investigations were conducted at his residence and other properties, which led to his arrest.
