Derogatory Remarks By Nupur Sharma Creates Religious Upheavals In Uttar Pradesh

Bhartiya Junta Party (BJP) leader Nupur Sharma’s careless mentions and statements about Prophet Mohammed has sent the state of Uttar Pradesh into a lockdown situation.
Since June 03, as many as 18 people have been killed over religious upheavals between the Hindu and Muslim communities. Primarily in Kanpur, some six people have also been left injured. A bandh has been declared over the comment and was requested by some Muslim communities, according to UP Additional Director-General (ADG) Law and Order, Prashant Kumar.

Evening prayers a few days back became unpleasant as Muslim residents later tried to close down shops of some Hindus and stone pelting starting between both communities. Three FIRs have already been filed for three instances. Two by the authorities and one on behalf of an injured person, police sources have shared with the media. The FIRs name at least 40 people, while 1,000 accused who currently remain unidentified have been booked.
Two FIRs have been already filed against official spokesperson for BJP Nupur Sharma. She is said to have made derogatory comments about Prophet Muhammad. The Hyderabad Cyber Crime Police Station filed one complaint against Sharma and the Bhiwandi City Police Station in Mumbai filed the other one for hurting religious sentiments.
Apparently, the leader is said to have made some comments on a leading TV channel over the Gyanvapi mosque Kashi Vishwanath row. Later the media channel is said to have distanced itself from the comments. Meanwhile, Sharma blamed Alt News co-founder Mohammed Zubair for the rape and death threats she has been receiving from social media users as he had shared a video of her remarks on Twitter.

The video she claims has been altered to twist her narrative. In retrospect, the agitations culminating after her comments and this video circulation is only hurting UP greatly. While appealing for peace, the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) has been noted saying that such an incident taking place when the country’s president, prime minister and UP chief minister are in town is shameful for the state and those in charge of its law and order.
