Dabangg actor declared as the Punjab Icon: Popular Bollywood actor Sonu Sood has been selected as Punjab Icon by the election commission. The announcement saw the public light as the chief electoral officer took to twitter to make the announcement.
The actor is known for playing villainous characters on screen gained more limelight after he helped thousands of migrants reach their destination by booking them buses. There was not much available during the time when coronavirus lockdown was called any many migrant workers were left stranded due to the situation and at that moment when Sood stepped in to help the needy, he immediately caught attention of the people and the media.
The 47-year-old actor belongs to Moga district in Punjab. On his appointment as the Punjab Incon, the Chief Electoral Officer, S Karuna Raju said his office had sent a proposal to the ECI in this regard and they approved the same.
The humanitarian work that was done by the Dabaang actor was widely appreciated by people of all sections of the society. He especially took care of the transport facilities and arranged food and shelter for the migrant workers.
It was only recently that the Penguin Random House India announced that the actor will be penning down his autobiography that will specifically focus on the situation during the Covid-19 pandemic and how it all turned out at the time. It is reported that Meena Iyer will be co writing the book.
On this announcement, he said, “People have been very kind and have lovingly named me Messiah. But I really do believe that I am no Messiah. I simply do what my heart tells me to. It is our responsibility as human beings to be compassionate and help each other.”
The book will be written in first person and will detail out the exclusive happenings and whereabouts that happened during the time of the pandemic. It will supposedly reveal the challenging times and emotional journey of people.
The book is scheduled to be released in December this year.
