Delhi -The Indian government’s official web portal for the COVID-19 vaccination, the CoWIN app, is soon to be used globally as more than 12 countries are in conversation about borrowing the technology from India.

South American country is among the 12 nations with whom the government of India has marked MOU, anticipating confirmation from their side for the CoWIN app technology.

The nations that have shown interest in technology are from Central Asia and Africa. The platform has shown to be effective in India, where it has stored the information on 2.5 crore inoculations in a day, with more than 800 immunizations each second.

R S Sharma, known for managing data innovation-related projects, the most significant being developing the Aadhaar card as the director-general and mission head of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), is also acknowledged for making the CoWIN app utilized for coronavirus vaccine drive.

Soon, the Modi government will be sharing information about the CoWIN app with various nations, which will be accessible to all interested countries for free. The primary condition would be that the product should not be permitted to be repackaged or utilized as a new platform for sale.

To show the software capabilities, the Modi government had earlier held a virtual global conference for technology and health experts worldwide on July 5.

Despite a few questions over the performance of the software to manage the load massive vaccination drive in India, CoWIN fared excellently.

When India accomplished the mark of one crore Covid-19 vaccine jabs in a day, the tech platform took care of more than 400 immunizations each second, Sharma added.  However, Due to the initial glitches in the app, people had shown hesitancy in using the CoWIN. “They thought that the app will most likely be unable to take the load of crores of data, yet CoWIN has shown to be an excellent platform helping India’s inoculation drive consistently, Sharma added.”
