Congress steps ups election strategy for 2022 Uttar Pradesh assembly polls

The Congress party has intensified its preparations for the assembly elections 2022 in Uttar Pradesh. As part of its poll strategy, Uttar Pradesh Congress is working on launching the ‘Kisne Bigada UP’ (Who destroyed UttarPradesh?) campaign to counter the Yogi Adityanath-led BJP government in the state.
Under the guidance of the party’s general-secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Congress has planned to set up more than 670 training camps across Uttar Pradesh to provide necessary training to thousands of regional workers for the assembly polls.
Congress to train thousands of workers
At the camps, Congress’ grassroots workers will be trained for booth management, social media techniques, and potential ways to counter the ruling BJP government’s ‘Sushashan and Vikas’ campaign in the state.
“Emphasis will be given to activate Nyaya Panchayat wise WhatsApp group,” the UP Congress committee said.
The Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee has also constituted designated committees for all 823 blocks across the state, in addition to training block presidents of its 8 zones. The Sonia Gandhi-led party has also sent a group of100 leaders and activists from Uttar Pradesh to Chhattisgarh for specialized training to further train more than 70,000 grassroots workers for the state polls.

Priyanka Gandhi Congress’ face for UP CM
On Wednesday, UP Congress officials stated that the mega campaign will take place from August 9 to September 9 with Priyanka Gandhi at the forefront of the trail. This development has come days after Rajesh Tiwari, Congress UP in-charge and AICC National Secretary declared that Priyanka Gandhi will be projected as the party’s face for UP Chief Minister in the upcoming poll.
“The Congress party members in the state wanted to fight the coming assembly polls under the leadership of Priyanka Gandhi and form the government. In UP, we don’t have a huge presence on ground level. Therefore, regaining strength is essential, and we have planned to fight on 403 seats,” Tiwari said during a media address in Raipur.
Sources have told media that Priyanka Gandhi has chalked out Congress’ battle strategy to boost the party’s campaign in UP in line with the Chhattisgarh election approach and establish its power in the state.
On the other hand, BJP has also begun preparations to retain its power in the crucial state of Uttar Pradesh. Recently, the BJP appointed in-charges for each seat in UP and assigned MPs, MLCs, and other officials to carry out campaigning with the aim to win more than 300 seats in the 403-member assembly. BJP has expressed confidence to break its 2017 assembly election record of 312 seats.
Meanwhile, the Election Commission has begun the preparation for the 2022 assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh.
