Canadian Dream or Nightmare? Insights from Sanjay Verma on Student Experiences

Sanjay Verma former Indian high commissioner to Canada said in his recent statement, that Indian families to think before making decisions to send children to study in Canada.

Sanjay Verma was recently recalled due to a diplomatic conflict between the two countries after the killing of a Canadian citizen, whom India labeled a Khalistani terrorist. He expressed serious concerns based on troubling trends he noticed during his time in office.

According to India Today, Former Indian high commissioner to Canada said that they had given this advice to Indian parents during that time as well when the relations between India and Canada was good. Because as per Mr. Verma the circumstances in Canada is not good for Indian children. They faces difficulties in college, minimal job prospects, and mounting mental health issues, leading some to take extreme measures.

In an interview with PTI he stated, “At one point of time in my tenure, at least two bodies of students were being sent to India in body bags per week.”

Sanjay Verma said, “The ground reality there is not very encouraging, students are paying high and ending up with low-paying jobs like driving cabs or selling street food, far from the careers they trained for.”

“They have gone there to dream of a future, and were returning in body bags,” he said in the interview.

This is a reality check for Indian parents, they should think twice before sending their child to abroad just in influences. Verifying the institution credibility, agents authentications are very important. Because after reaching to Canada they stuck.
