Byju’s Threatens Parents To Buy Courses & It Buys Children’s Contacts

NCPCR accused Byju’s for buying the phone numbers of children and threatening or forcing parents to buy their courses. The child panel has summoned Byju’s CEO on 23rd Dec.

On Tuesday, the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights – NCPCR – stated that it learned that Byju’s edtech company is buying telephone numbers of children and parents and threatening them with ruin if they don’t purchase their courses.

“We discovered that Byju was buying the phone numbers of children and their families, following them closely and threatening their future.

They are targeting first-generation students. “We will take action, and if necessary will write to the government,” Priyank Kanoongo, chair of NCPCR, told news agency ANI.

The commission summoned Byju Raveendran’s CEO, asking him to appear personally on December 23rd over the alleged malpractice in hard selling and mis-selling its courses for students.
