Boney Kapoor’s Maidaan Six collides with SS Rajamouli’s RRR

Box office has finally opened and stars are choosing to release their movies making a shift from web or digital platforms. Some of the big releases last few films on digital platforms saw Coolie No.1 starring Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan and Gunjan starring jhanvi Kapoor.

But as people are moving back to cinema theatres, Boney Kapoor has planned to release his production creation Maidaan Six a few months ago. But now SS Rajamouli has also announced the same date–October 13, 2021, for his long due production RRR.

The best part of both the productions, which is also a controversial turn in the series of events is that the two feature Ajay Devgan as the main cast. As per reports, Devgan had asked Rajamouli to speak to Boney Kapoor about the date clash. What surprised the movie experts most was Rajamouli choosing the same date of release considering the financial aspect of fim business suffering due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

A report in the Bollywood Hungama revealed that an insider said, “Ajay is aware that his prestigious biopic Maidaan on football legend Syed Abdul Rahim was due in the Dussehra week this year. He very specifically told Rajamouli to speak to Boney Kapoor before announcing his release date. But Rajamouli went ahead without consulting Boney.”

Boney is reportedly very upset after the announcement and he also called the move ‘unethical’ on Rajampuli’s part. He noted that the release date of Maidaan six was announced months ago and RRR director must have considered it. What especially irked the director was the fact that the industry is struggling as it is and at the time when people must come together, he(Rajamouli) has done this.

Most people involved in the matter say that the clash will most probably be avoided as that is what is advised to the two directors by experts. Because the industry is already struggling so much, a big budget clash on screen is likely to further worsen the matter.

Regardless of the box office release starting from December, the films are not performing well on screen, especially when it comes to Bollywood. Even big stars could not save their films and Varun Dhawan’s coolie no. 1 is one such example. However, movies such as Wonder Woman, by the international franchise, a superhero creation–DC.
