Blinkit Expands Beyond Groceries With 10 Minute Ambulance Service
Blinkit, which is a quick commerce player, started offering a 10-minute ambulance service on Thursday. Albinder Dhindsa, CEO of Blinkit stated that since “profit is not a goal here” the service will be offered at an “affordable” price.
Albinder Dhindsa stated that the company began by deploying its first five ambulances on Gurugram roadways said, “As we expand the service to more areas, you will start seeing an option to book a Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulance through the @letsblinkit app.”
A paramedic, an assistant and a trained driver will accompany each ambulance which will also be equipped with oxygen cylinders, stretchers and other vital life saving supplies.
In the rapid commerce market where traditional e-commerce businesses have also entered, Blinkit faces competition from Zepto and Instamart. This service will be a game changer for Blinkit.
The CEO shared pictures of the first ambulances in Gurugram and stated, “We are carefully scaling this service up, as it is both important and new to us. Our aim is to expand to all major cities over the next two years.”
This service is expected to be available in all cities within the two years of time.
Last month in an effort to compete with Zepto Cafe, Blinkit introduced Bistro which is a 10 minute meal delivery app.
Blinkit has been progressively growing its service portfolio and exploring fresh and creative ideas to improve consumer convenience.
In addition to its primary grocery delivery service, the company last year added special features like doorstep printout services which let users submit documents via the app and have them printed at home.
As the ambulance service expands into other locations, users will soon have the opportunity to reserve the ambulances using the Blinkit app.
The CEO emphasised that this approach prioritises accessibility and quality of care for customers in urgent need.
