Ayushman Bharat Yojana Saves ₹80,000 Crore, Helps 50+ Crores Citizens

President Droupadi Murmu revealed that the Ayushman Bharat Yojana has saved more than ₹80,000 crore. It gave health coverage to crores of poor people.

In her address to the joint session of Parliament on the opening day of the Budget session on Tuesday, President Droupadi Murmu noted that the Ayushman Bharat Yojana had provided health insurance to millions of the nation’s poor and saved the nation ₹80 crores.

According to President Murmu, more than 50 crore citizens can receive free medical care through the Ayushman Bharat Yojana.

The programme has prevented people from incurring catastrophic medical costs and has saved them almost 80,000 crore.

The goal of the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri-Jan Arogya Yojana (AM PM-JAY), which was introduced in September 2018, is to offer 10.74 crore poor and vulnerable families, who were defined from the Socio-economic Caste Census of 2011 based on specific deprivation and occupation-based criteria, free, affordable, and usable healthcare services.

According to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the Center’s flagship health programme offers 80 crore people coverage worth 5 lakh rupees, making it the first and only comprehensive mechanism of its kind in the world.

The implementation of AB PM-JAY works hand in hand with state-specific health insurance programmes.

As a result, the number of beneficiaries has increased to almost 14 crore families across various States and Union Territories.

After the President’s speech today, the Economic Survey is scheduled to be presented. On February 1st, Nirmala Sitharaman, the minister of finance, will introduce the Union Budget.

Today is the day that Parliament holds its budget session. President Murmu took office in July of last year, and here is his first speech to the combined session of the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha members.

By 2047, when India would have been independent for 100 years, the nation’s citizens, according to Murmu, must create an independent India.
