There will be 36 regular cyclists and 8 para cyclists representing India at the Asian Track Cycling Championships in 2022. From June 18-22, the event will take place in the IG Sports Complex’s Indoor Cycling Velodrome in New Delhi.
The governing body of cycling – UCI has designated the Asian Track Cycling Championships as a level 1 competition. Individuals will be ranked, and the competition will assist cyclists participate in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
As many as 500 cyclists from 20 different countries were expected to take part, but many later dropped out. Cyclists from the following countries will now compete:
Other notable players like Ronaldo Singh, the junior world no. 1, and Esow Alben, a seasoned veteran, will also be competing. Junior World Champions Mayuri Lute as well as Trishya Paul will head India’s women’s team.
In addition to David Beckham and Vishwajeet and Meenakshi from India, the Indian team also features youthful talent including Aashirwad Saxena, Gurnoor Poonia, Srimathi J, and Sadnya Kotake.
Before the COVID pandemic, the event was supposed to take place in February. But later the schedules had to extend.
This competition opens off their year-long journey to the 2024 Olympics in Paris. It will be the 41st year of this historic competition, and it will also feature junior & para championships.
