Ameesha Patel has taken to court over a cheque bounce fraud case
Hindi movie actor and producer Ameesha Patel is not known for controversies especially when it comes to her financial matters. This time too, the actor was dragged to court over a case of bounced cheque and has been charged with cheating of Rs 2.5 crores.
The actress has found herself surrounded by this multi-crore fraud case after a petition was filed in Jharkhand High Court. The court heard both the parties and concluded that all the parties involved must submit a written response in the coming two weeks as the case has already taken a serious turn.
Anand Sen, who was the judge in the case, heard all the parties through video conferencing and gave the decision. The complaint was filed by businessman Ajay Kumar Singh against the actor. Singh claimed that Patel cheated him of rs 2.5 crore after which, the actor has been given 14 days to respond.
Singh also added that the actor asked him to invest in one of the projects that she was working in but later backed out of the movie. Patel reportedly demanded the investment for one of her projects called ‘Desi Magic’.
Ajay is a proprietor of Lovely World Entertainment and recalled the first meet with Patel saying that it was in 2017 when he met her at an event in Harmu Housing Colony. After the meeting, Singh agreed to put in money for the movie and transferred Rs 2.5 crore into her bank account.
He then accused her of not keeping the promise and then even denying to return the money to the businessman. Patel, later on, gave a cheque to Singh which bounced and the battle turned into a legal one. First, the petitioner took the route of a lower court and then subsequently moved to the High Court.
Justice took note of the whole matter through a video conferencing and both the judge and the petitioner fixated on two weeks as the time given to Patel for the response. Singh disclosed the matter in June 2019 where he revealed that Patel had made false promises, he gave a statement to IANS saying, “Then I was told that it will release in September. But I will get my money with interest by September. Though I was given a cheque of Rs. 3 crore, it bounced.”
He also said that the actor threatened him saying that he is only a small investor and he should not take it to matter ahead.
