Akash Madhwal Get Praised For Entering 5/5 Club In ‘MI vs LSG’ Match

In the crucial Eliminator match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, Mumbai Indians (MI) emerged victorious against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) with a resounding 81-run win.
One of the standout performances of the match came from MI pace bowler Akash Madhwal, who achieved a remarkable feat by taking five wickets for just five runs in the 3.3 overs he bowled.
MI won the toss and chose to bat first, posting a challenging total of 182/8 in their 20 overs. Cameron Green played a fiery innings, scoring 41 runs off just 23 balls, while Suryakumar Yadav and Nehal Wadhera made valuable contributions.
Chasing the target, LSG struggled right from the start and lost half of their side within the first ten overs. Madhwal played a pivotal role in dismantling their batting lineup, taking five crucial wickets.
He started by dismissing Prerak Mankad early on and went on to remove Ayush Badoni in the 10th over. Madhwal also claimed the wickets of Nicholas Pooran, along with two more scalps to complete his five-wicket haul.
Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag expressed his admiration for Madhwal’s outstanding performance, especially considering it came in a knockout match.
Sehwag praised the young bowler on Twitter, highlighting the delight of seeing newcomers excel in the tournament.
He also congratulated Mumbai Indians on their emphatic win and pondered whether they could become the first team to win the IPL after finishing fourth in the league stage.
Akash Madhwal’s exceptional achievement of taking five wickets for just five runs in the Eliminator match garnered praise from legendary Indian bowler Anil Kumble and MI’s star pacer Jasprit Bumrah as well.
With this victory, Mumbai Indians advanced to the second Qualifier where they will face Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Friday, May 26.
