AIMIM’s Qwaisi accuses BJP: Ahead of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation elections, BJP MP Tejasvi Surya slammed his opponent AIMIM chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi, calling him a version of Mohammed Ali Jinnah and accused both Owaisi and his brother Akbaruddin Owaisi of “playing divisive and communal politics”. Surya in his highly controversial speech emphasised that every vote which goes to AIMIM was a vote against India.
BJP’s youth wing president also accused the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) of only promoting “Rohingya Muslims, not development”, in Hyderabad. “If you vote for Owaisi here, he becomes strong in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Maharashtra, Muslim localities in Karnataka…Who is Owaisi? Owaisi is Jinnah’s new avatar. We must defeat him. Every single vote you give BJP is a vote for Bharat, Hindutva, to make country stronger. A vote for Owaisi — and tell this to every single Indian — is a vote against India and everything that India stands for,” Surya said.
BJP MO from Bangalore added, “He (Asaduddin Owaisi) speaks the language of rabid Islamism, separatism and extremism which Jinnah also spoke. Every Indian should stand against divisive and communal politics of the Owaisi brothers. We will not let this Islamisation happen, this is our resolve.”
His spiteful and divisive comments reflected BJP’s insecurity towards AIMIM’s performance in Bihar polls. Owaisi hit back at Surya’s vindictive statement saying that it was proof how BJP was spreading hatred in the country.
During his election rally for the upcoming civic body polls in Hyderabad, Qwaisi said, “If there are 30,000 Rohingyas in the electoral list, what is home minister Amit Shah doing? Is he sleeping? Isn’t this his job to see how 30,000-40,000 Rohingyas are listed? If the BJP is honest, it should show 1,000 such names by tomorrow,.. Their (BJP) intention is to create hatred. This fight is between Hyderabad and Bhagyanagar. It is now your responsibility to decide who will win,”
The GHMC polls would be held on December 1 and the vote counting would take place on December 4
