Laal Singh Chaddha, Shamshera, Liger, Heropanti 2 & several other Bollywood films get flopped. But why Indian fans boycott Bollywood movies?
For a long time, you must have also noticed how all the Bollywood movies are getting flopped one by one. But what is the reason behind this? Most of the other news websites and blogs, are giving strange & stupid arguments.
For example they’re saying that people don’t have money after lockdown, there is worldwide recession, movie tickets have become expensive, people are watching movies online instead of going to theaters, and sort of.

But if this was the case then the same situation would have happened in the South film industry as well. But the southern movies are doing so well. South Indian film industries are earning name, fame & money not just in India but all over the world.
The logic of other websites and blogs is true to some extent, but the real reason is something else. Let us know the 7 reasons why Indian fans boycott Bollywood movies these days.
List of 7 Reasons Why Indian Fans Boycott Bollywood Movies
1. Copycat Makers
There was a time when Bollywood used to steal stories of other languages films and convert them into a remake and cast a superstar to make it a blockbuster hit.
But those days have gone. Now people come to know where the stories have been stolen from. Now the public can easily watch other languages & films from different regions.
So why would they want to see the same story again? However, every film industry makes some remakes, but Bollywood has crossed the limit. Every second or third film is either a remake or a biopic. It seems that there is no writer left in Bollywood.
Bollywood doesn’t just steal stories, but they also copy movie posters, songs, background music, action scenes and even dialogues of other films. But the public is tired & bored of such things.

2. Community-Biased Behavior
Bollywood has been community-biased for several years. Bollywood used to apply tactics similar to political leaders & parties.
They always make fun of one religion and try to glorify another religion. Making fun of Hindu gods and goddesses has become a habit of Bollywood. Sadhu, Lala, Baniya, Pujari all were always presented as hypocrites and greedy in Bollywood films.
There are so many examples out there – PK, Tandav, Kali, Lakshmi, Shamshera, Commando 3, Haider, Jodha Akbar, Ramleela etc. The list is endless!
The films, which are based on real-life stories, used to change the religion of the original villain. There are several examples for this also.
In many cases, the villains were Muslims in real life. But in films like Sherni, Chhapaak they were presented as Hindu.
For years people could not understand such cheap activities, but now it has become difficult to fool people for Bollywood. Thus it has become one of the biggest reasons why indian fans boycott bollywood movies.
3. Nepotism Push Talents Back
It’s true that there is a little bit of nepotism in every industry, but Bollywood is at the next level about nepotism.
Talented people keep on longing for just one role or job. They get tortured, blackmailed and treated very badly by the Bollywood mafia.
On the other hand, children of film stars get the lead roles directly, without any struggle. It doesn’t matter if they have any talent or not. Whatever their films hit or flop, they keep getting projects consistently.
In the recent few years people have also noticed such things. They got to see Bollywood mafia leave no stone unturned to spoil the career of outsiders or other talented people.
Although nepotism has been there in Bollywood for a long time, after the death of Sushant Singh Rajput, people have started to take it seriously. This is also a big reason why people have started hating Bollywood.

4. Anti-Nationalist Acts
You must be aware that there are many criminals on bail in India. Even the police and law can’t punish them due to their money & advocacy.
And you also know those Bollywood celebrities’ names who are involved in crimes like – murder, smuggling, drugs, porn, black money and so on. But still they got bail and now they are free.
In addition to that there are many Bollywood celebrities who always try to defame India, and are involved in anti-nationalism activities.
They criticize the country in every possible way. They get involved with the enemy countries. Some of them used to join the camp of the militants.
The common man neither stops them nor punishes them. But the country is completely aware of their anti-nationalist activities.
That’s why Indian people have started hating those so-called celebrities. They have started boycotting such celebrities. They don’t want to watch their film at any cost.
5. OTT Platforms
There is absolutely no denying that many people are now preferring to watch movies online instead of going to the theaters.
Watching films online on OTT platforms has many advantages such as it costs less, it can be watched from anywhere, it can be paused anytime.
Thus people like to go to the theater only when there is a high-level or big-scale film such as – Bahubali, RRR, Doctor Strange etc.
6. End of Blind Fandom
There was a time when Indian film fans used to treat filmy stars like their God. People used to respect & enjoy whatever their star does. But now the Blind fandom is almost over.
Plus, some Bollywood celebrities are very arrogant and haughty. They treat the junior actors and other film staff very rudely.
They feel no guilt by criticizing the country or the people. They used to think that they could do anything and say anything to anyone. But now the public has started boycotting such people.
7. Online Review & Social Media Impact
Earlier there were neither so many review sites nor social media platforms. That’s why people couldn’t get informed about the illogical or rubbish films.
Thus Bollywood films could easily make money through their advance ticket bookings.
But now the reviews can be easily shared through the review sites & social media platforms within a few minutes. So now Bollywood can’t invite the public by fooling them.
Final Words About Why Indian Fans Boycott Bollywood Movies
We can’t say that Bollywood has only flaws and every celebrity is bad or anti-nationalist. In fact there are many good and talented people too.
But unfortunately, Bollywood is dominated by only a few bad people. Thus the public is trying to clean Bollywood by sweeping out those Bollywood mafia members.
