21 Islands To Be Named After 21 Param Vir Chakra Awardees
Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended a programme to rename 21 islands of Andaman & Nicobar Islands after Param Vir Chakra awardees on Monday.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi took part in a ceremony on Monday to name 21 of the largest unidentified Andaman and Nicobar Islands after 21 recipients of the Param Vir Chakra, as part of his efforts to honor and recognise real-life heroes.
On Parakram Diwas, popularly known as Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Jayanti, the decision was made. The national celebration honors notable Indian freedom warrior Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s birth anniversary.
The action was “an appropriate tribute to the heroes who made the greatest sacrifice,” according to actor Anupam Kher.
“The Param Vir Chakra recipients are being honored by the central government through this programme. Sixteen of the 21 islands are in the North and Middle Andaman districts, and five are in the South Andaman, according to an official.
The islands that were named today in honor of Param Vir Chakra recipients, according to PM Modi, “will serve as a source of inspiration for future generations.”
The effort to rename islands after recipients of the Param Vir Chakra, according to Home Minister Amit Shah, will ensure that they are remembered forever.
PM Narendra Modi said, “Attempt made to suppress Netaji’s contribution in freedom struggle; his memorial to infuse feelings of patriotism.”
