YouTube To Launch AI Feature To Dub Videos In Different Languages

YouTube is introducing a new AI-powered feature that aims to simplify the process of dubbing videos in multiple languages.

The platform plans to integrate the AI-powered dubbing service called Aloud, developed by Google’s Area 120 incubator, into YouTube. The announcement was made during the VidCon event.

Aloud works by initially translating the video content and providing a transcription that creators can review and adjust as needed. Once the translation is finalized, the dubbing process takes place.

This feature is particularly beneficial for content creators who want to make their videos accessible to a wider audience regardless of their geographical location or language.

In a video released by Aloud on YouTube, a content creator named Nolan Karimov from Kings & Generals expressed his desire to share his passion for history with the world, but language limitations hindered him.

Aloud’s dubbing service aims to remove these language barriers and allow creators to reach new audiences globally.

Dubbing videos can be a time-consuming and expensive process, but Aloud claims to alleviate these challenges. YouTube emphasizes that dubbing with Aloud is as simple as editing text and user-friendly. By enabling creators to dub their videos, YouTube aims to expand its reach to an even larger audience.

Currently, Aloud is available in English, Spanish, and Portuguese, with plans to support more languages in the future. YouTube has already conducted tests with “hundreds” of creators using the service.

In the coming years, YouTube plans to enhance the audio tracks by making them sound like the creator’s voice with more expression and improved lip sync.

Additionally, YouTube has recently updated its policies regarding impersonation. The platform will scrutinize fan channels that appear to impersonate larger original channels, with potential termination as a consequence.

YouTube aims to draw a clear line between admiration and impersonation, striving to prevent those who cross this line.
