YouTube Tests ‘Lock Screen’ Feature, To Block The Ad Blockers

YouTube is testing a new feature called “Lock Screen” that allows users to lock the app interface while watching a video. The feature is currently in the experimental phase and is only available for YouTube Premium users.

It aims to prevent accidental touches that interrupt the video viewing experience. The Lock Screen option will be available for experimentation until July 30 on both Android and iOS devices.

To use the feature, users need to select a video, switch to landscape or full-screen mode, tap on the gear icon, and choose the “Lock Screen” option. Premium users also enjoy other benefits such as ad-free viewing and high-quality download options.

In addition to the Lock Screen feature, YouTube is reportedly testing an online gaming option within the platform.

The company is inviting its workforce to try out “Playables,” a subset of YouTube that currently offers gaming titles like Stack Bounce.

This feature will allow users to play games on their mobile browsers directly from the YouTube platform.

Furthermore, YouTube is also testing a “three strikes policy” for users who use ad blockers. This policy aims to discourage the use of ad blockers by imposing penalties on users who violate it.
