World Students’ Day 2022: The Birth Anniversary of A. P. J. Abdul Kalam

15th October is celebrated as World Students’ Day & you may get surprised to know that it’s the birth anniversary of India’s former President Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam.

In honor of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, a renowned astronautical scientist and former president of India, October 15 is observed as World Students’ Day. The holiday is observed to honor his contributions to education and student success.

On October 15, 1931, Dr Kalam was born. Many pupils found encouragement in him to succeed and do something extraordinary.

Following the conclusion of his term as president, he was hired as a visiting professor at the Indian Institutes of Management (IIM) in Shillong, Indore, and Ahmedabad. 

Till the very end of his life, he made an effort to work for the pupils. He passed away in July 2015 while giving a lecture at the IIM Shillong. He had fainted owing to cardiac arrest.

Dr APJ Abdul Kalam was an enthusiastic learner who put a lot of effort into his studies. Despite having limited funds, he graduated with a degree in physics and went on to the Madras Institute of Technology to study aerospace engineering. 

He rose to prominence as India’s most well-known nuclear scientist and earned the moniker “Missile Man of India.” He was a key participant in the 1998 Pokhran-II nuclear testing. 

He was affectionately referred to as the “People’s President” during his five years as the leader of the nation, from 2002 to 2007.

Dr Kalam was adored not only for his distinguished career as a scientist but also for his leadership as President and academician. He was raised in a lowly home and wanted to be remembered for his teaching.

Dr Kalam thought that students were the nation’s future and that their forward-thinking minds might lead the nation to great success. 

He placed a strong focus on instilling essential values that one must uphold throughout one’s life and giving one a vision for their own life.

Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam received numerous honors, including the Ramanujan Award, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Vibhushan.
