World Snake Day 2022: Only 50 Snakes Are Poisonous Out Of 270

World Snake Day is celebrated on 16th July every year. Although ‘Nagpanchami’ has already been celebrated in India for centuries.

The purpose of World Snake Day is to spread awareness & remove misconceptions about snakes.

How World Snake Day Has Started?

A firm was started in Texas in 1967 regarding snakes, which became very famous by 1970. This firm started making people aware about snakes.

This firm organized special events on July 16, after which many NGOs started spreading awareness about snakes on this day and then became popular among the common people.

Snakes Are Essential Part of The Environment

These are very important organisms and have a lot of importance for the environment. But people have more fear about this and many legends have also been made about this creature.

Snake Fact: Only 15 Snakes Can Kill Humans

It is known that about 270 species of snakes are found in India. Out of which only about 50 such species are poisonous. Out of these, there are only 15 such species whose bite can kill a human being.
