Windows 11 To Introduce Tab Feature In Its Notepad App

Microsoft’s senior product manager accidentally posted & revealed the tab feature of the notepad app, which is being introduced in the Windows 11.

A Microsoft employee mistakenly tweeted about the creation of tabs for the Notepad App on Twitter. He deleted the tweet quickly and we are now aware more about the Windows 11 Notepad feature.

An experienced product manager at Microsoft announced to the world via Twitter that the Notepad app will be receiving tabs with Windows 11.

He shared a picture of a variant of Notepad that has tabs and unofficially announced “Notepad in Windows 11 now has tabs!” With an emoji of a loudspeaker.

The senior product manager quickly removed this tweet containing “confidential” information. However, the tweet was not without being noticed by Windows Central and other windows enthusiasts who quickly caught the error.

There is an official statement from Microsoft regarding this issue. The image of the Notepad was also accompanied by an internal message from Microsoft that stated, “Confidential Don’t discuss features or take screenshots.”

This implies this feature remains in the testing phase in Microsoft. According to the Verge, this could mean that the Notepad tabs feature will be made available to Windows Insiders at some point in 2023.

Microsoft originally tested the tabs feature in all Windows applications, and the feature was referred to as Sets. It even had tabs within Notepad as well as File Explorer but was eventually put on hold and not made available for Windows 10 users.

Earlier this year, Microsoft added tabs to File Explorer. If tabs are added to the Notepad App, it’s a great option which Windows users will be able to appreciate.

Windows 11 comes as the most recent major release for Microsoft’s Windows NT operating system. It was released in the month of October 2021 and serves as the predecessor to Windows 10.

Windows 11 upgrade is no cost to anyone with a Windows 10 device if it is compatible with the requirements of Windows 11. It’s available in more than 110 languages.
