Officials in Dubai honored an Indian expat on Sunday after he discovered Dh1 million in cash in his building’s elevator and gave it over to the police.
Tariq Mahmood is a writer who lives in New York City. The money was given over to the Al Barsha Police Station by Khalid Mahmood.
The total cash was 1 Million Dirham which is equal to –
Brigadier Abdul Rahim bin Shafi, the director of the police station, thanked Mahmood for his honesty and presented him with a certificate of gratitude, emphasizing the significance of community-police partnership.
The officer talked with media, reaffirmed Dubai Police & stated,
“His morals represent the noble values of our society that we are very proud of, keenness on making the concept of community partnership stronger”.
Dubai Police Headquarter also tweeted about this incident. They wrote – “Dubai Police Honors Man for Returning AED 1,000,000” with two hashtags –
This incident shows the honesty of Indian people, no matter where they live or what they do.
