Why Is TMC Leader Abhishek Banerjee Trying To Escape ED’s Summon?

Trinamool Congress (TMC) party’s General Secretary and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s nephew, Abhishek Banerjee, has said that he will not appear before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on October 3rd.

The ED had summoned Abhishek in the ‘teacher recruitment scam’ case.

In fact, the ED had issued a summons for Abhishek to appear before the agency on October 3rd in connection with the teacher recruitment scam case.

Banerjee claims that he was called by the ED when he was in Delhi for an important coordinating meeting of the ‘India’ alliance and on a day when a demonstration was planned in Delhi for the sake of West Bengal.

Trinamool has also announced a protest program in Delhi on October 2nd and 3rd regarding the demands of Bengal.

Abhishek had plans to go to Delhi as part of this program. The ED has asked Abhishek to be present at the CGO Complex in Delhi at 10:30 AM on October 3rd.

The ED has also summoned Abhishek Banerjee’s parents. Next week, Abhishek’s father, Amit Banerjee, and mother, Lata Banerjee, will be questioned as directors of the company Lips & Bounds, which is linked to the recruitment scam.

It is important to note that Abhishek Banerjee is the CEO of this company. The ED had conducted searches at the company’s office in recent days and seized several important documents.

Abhishek Banerjee, a leader in the Trinamool Congress (TMC), is accused of being part of a ‘teacher recruitment scam’ in West Bengal. The court has given him temporary protection from ED actions, but the inquiry continues.

The investigation by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) claims that he has taken bribes from job seekers to help them get teaching jobs as well as that he had manipulated the hiring process.

TMC leader and Mamta Banerjee’s nephew Abhishek Banerjee is alleged of-

  • Taking bribes,
  • Influencing favored candidates,
  • Involving fake certificate sales, and
  • Pressuring officials for special treatment.

Private coaching centers may have played a role in the scam, promising jobs for money.

The scam’s total amount is still unknown but expected to be a substantial amount. The ED has raided and found crores of rupees and gold, suggesting large-scale bribery.
