For the alliance of opposition parties, ‘INDIA’ stands for the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance. The acronym represents the collective effort of leaders like Rahul Gandhi and Mamata Banerjee.
The opposition parties can’t defeat BJP alone thus 26 different opposition parties come together to take on the BJP in the 2024 general election. They have also set a tagline ‘Jeetega Bharat (India will win)’.
The name “INDIA” was suggested by both Rahul Gandhi and Mamata Banerjee for the alliance of opposition parties.
During the two-day meeting, there was a discussion on the choice between “Democracy” and “Developmental” for the D in INDIA.
Nitish Kumar objected to “Democratic” as it is also used by the ruling NDA. Ultimately, the decision was made to include “Developmental” to avoid confusion with the ruling NDA’s use of “Democratic.”
Rahul Gandhi favored the name INDIA, and it was finalized with D standing for “developmental” just five minutes before the meeting concluded. The next INDIA meeting will take place in Mumbai.
However PM Modi referred to the opposition alliance as a ‘conclave of the corrupt’ to criticize the gathering of opposition parties in Bengaluru.
He said that this alliance is based on corruption, dynastic politics, and the compulsion of power. He stated that such an alliance, formed on negative foundations, is harmful to the country and lacks a clear vision for its progress.
PM Modi also points out that the NDA (National Democratic Alliance) of 38 parties, in contrast, was formed to bring stability and development to the country, and its intent, policies, and decisions are focused on the welfare and progress of the nation.
The BJP explained that the opposition alliance is confused, disoriented, and faced with a crisis of identity and relevance. He believes that the coalition’s lack of clarity, full of selfishness, compromised principles, and focus on family interests rather than national development will prevent its success.
