Why Bella Hadid skipped the Met Gala this year

While Gigi Hadid was seen in a sheer black corset dress with cutouts at the 2023 Karl Lagerfeld-themed Met Gala on Monday night, her younger sister Bella Hadid wasn’t photographed on the carpet despite being rumored to attend.

But Bella did go there last year though. She showed up at the 2022 event in a sultry black gown. The eye-popping look included a leather corset, sheer lace tights, and mesh evening gloves. And her 2019 look consisted of a stunning black jewel-encrusted gown with a long train.

The supermodel has frequently topped “best dressed” lists of previous Met Gala nights. Her absence from the star-studded event this year was felt by scores of people across the globe, though she has yet to publicly comment on it.

Bella was active on her Instagram Story Tuesday morning, reposting a photo of her and Gigi together in Fendi clothes taken by the late German fashion designer that Gigi shared to her Instagram Story. “We love you @karllagerfeld,” she wrote.

Her last big public event was in late March in Las Vegas. Bella was seen wearing a black plunge dress in a video that appears to have been shot in a casino, celebrating five months of zero alcohol. And this past weekend, she shared videos of herself enjoying horseback riding.
