Sonia Gandhi is confronting a large number of crucial questions in a letter by 23 senior leaders calling for sweeping reform in the Congress Party. According to NDTV reports, she is unwilling to continue as Congress party interim president and hence, called for a Congress Working Committee meeting on Monday.

However, today’s virtual meeting will decide on whether she will proceed as a Congress Party president or she maintains her stance on resigning from the position. According to analysts, the big question is if she resigns, then who will lead the Congress Party? Will it be Rahul Gandhi or someone else within the Party?

The letter was marked by senior leaders, Dr. Gulam Nabi Azad, Anand Sharma, Veerappa Moily, Shashi Tharoor, Kapil Sibal, Mukul Wasnik, to name a few, and including several district leaders.

As per The Times Of India, the letter states to seek decentralized working and making collective decisions and raises questions over the leadership of the Gandhi family. The signatories have additionally called for an election to the apex body, CWC, and significant reform of the parliamentary committee.

Numerous congress leaders have turned out in full support of the Gandhi family. Recently, Sachin Pilot took to twitter and adulated the congress chief Mrs. Sonia Gandhi, and MP Rahul Ji for the sacrifices they made for the Party, and the citizen. He added that most Congress leaders would like either of them to take over as the Party chief. But, as per NDTV sources, Rahul is not keen on returning to the post as INC President.

However, the current rows exhibit a sharp divide amid the dissenters and the supporters. Yet, the current need of the hour as per many political analysts is to find a dedicated and long term leader to head the Indian Congress Party and represent a strong opposition front to the BJP.
